If your trip is to LA, I would plan on going to the LA Zoo, since it is closer and a wonderful zoo. San Diego Zoo is great but about a 3 hour drive, more or less, depending on traffic.
How much time should I plan to spend at the zoo? I understand it depends on people's pace, but just average not leisurely walking or walking right past everything but just enough time to see most if not all the animals?
