A Baltimore County police officer remains in guarded condition after being shot by an armed suspect outside the Wilkens precinct Thursday

An officer is in ‘guarded condition’ following surgery after being shot outside a Baltimore County police station in Catonsville, police say.

A Baltimore County police officer is fighting for his life after being shot Thursday afternoon while on duty. What we know Around 2:30 p.m., an armed suspect approached the officer and began firing at him.

This kind of violence is shocking, outrageous, and has no place in Baltimore County,” County Executive Kathrine Klausmeier said, as she joined Police Chief Robert McCullough at the hospital. McCullough confirmed that the officer was shot in the back parking lot of the precinct and that the department is deeply grateful to the medical team working to save his life.

According to Baltimore County Police, the suspect walked in and out of the lobby at the Wilkens Precinct. The person then approached the officer in the parking lot and fired several shots, hitting the officer in the torso.
