A controlled burn in Fond du Lac County led to a devastating house fire on Thursday afternoon, leaving two people without a home. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded shortly after 3 p.

A town of Metomen home is a total loss after a fire Thursday afternoon. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release a 911 call at 3:06 p.m. March 13 reported a residence at N13707 State 44 was fully engulfed in flames.

Authorities in Fond du Lac say three adults and a baby are now staying with relatives for the time being after a fire Wednesday night caused extensive damage to their apartment. According to a release from the Fond du Lac Fire Rescue,

Stop Stick tire deflation devices were then deployed on I-41 at Townline Road near North Fond du Lac. A second device deployed by the Wisconsin State Patrol was needed before the vehicle came to a stop with three flat tires near County Highway “OO”, about a mile and a half further down the line after the first attempt with the device.
