Buffalo Gap senior Hannah Coffman is a fighter, no doubt about it. Coffman, the point guard for the Bison (23-5), always responds, whether her name is called or not. It was no different against George Wythe in the Class 1 state final Friday. Even in the 50-44 loss to the Maroons, she never took her foot off the gas.

Buffalo Gap girls fall to George Wythe 50-44 in VHSL Class 1 State Championship
RICHMOND, Va. (WHSV) - Makaylan Luttrell and Alana Malavolti each scored 13 points to lead George Wythe past Buffalo Gap in the VHSL Class 1 Girls Basketball State Championship Friday afternoon. Buffalo Gap was led by Hannah Coffman and Kayleigh Hemp who each scored 21 points.

George Wythe seniors complete mission with first boys state title since 2008
Franklin (17-13) was playing in its first state title game since 1993 and it did not go well for the Broncos. While George Wythe was on fire, Franklin was ice cold in shooting 11-for-41 from the field, including 1-for-17 from 3-point range.

George Wythe boys and girls basketball teams win Class 1 state championship
The VHSL state championship games began with the girls as George Wythe battled Buffalo Gap. After the first quarter, the game was tied at 17 with Caroline Harris, Makaylan Lutrell, and Kayleigh Hemp leading the way offensively. The Maroons were able to end the half with a 33-25 lead.
