Former Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, who was forced from office in the wake of the Whitewater investigation, has died.

Jim Guy Tucker, Arkansas’ 43rd governor, died Thursday at the age of 81. Tucker died from complications of ulcerative colitis, said Lance Alworth Jr., his stepson.

Jim Guy Tucker, who served as Arkansas's 43rd governor, will lie in state at the state capitol on Friday, February 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

He was among those targeted by the investigation that consumed much of Bill Clinton’s presidency. But his conviction was later questioned.

Former Arkansas Governor and current Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee reacted quickly to the death of former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker on Thursday. Huckabee, who was lieutenant governor and stepped into the governor’s role when Tucker resigned, issued a statement:

Former congressman and Arkansas governor Jim Guy Tucker passed away on Thursday, Feb. 13, following a battle with ulcerative colitis. He was 81 years old. According to Arkansas Times, Tucker died weeks after he entered hospice care.

"Jim Guy Tucker was part of a generation of Arkansas leaders who left a deep impression on the state and whose legacy lives on," said Gov. Sanders.
