Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lander lowered its orbit around the moon Tuesday (Feb. 18), sending back gorgeous footage from just over the lunar surface.

The lander, Blue Ghost, fired its engines for four minutes Thursday to propel the spacecraft into lunar orbit ahead of a planned March 2 landing.

The Blue Ghost mission launched on Wednesday, January 15, on board a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket and is currently around halfway through its journey to the Moon. The mission, named “Ghost Riders in the Sky,” will spend around 16 days in lunar orbit before attempting a soft touchdown on the lunar surface.

The Blue Ghost Lander built by Firefly Aerospace successfully entered the lunar orbit last week and has sent stunning first views of the Moon. In a post on February 14, Firefly said that the mission team successfully completed the 'Lunar Orbit Insertion' to enter an elliptical orbit around the Moon.
