Elon Musk, controversially charged with remaking government for President Donald Trump, said Friday he would rehire a young member of the so-called Department of Government Efficiency after the man resigned Thursday over racist social media posts.

Elez resigned from his post at Musk's Department of Government Efficiency, better known as DOGE, on Thursday after the Wall Street Journal uncovered that Elez had published racist statements on an anonymous account that once bore his name. However, on Friday, Musk confirmed he could bring Elez back to DOGE.

Marko Elez, the DOGE staffer who resigned after racist social media posts including a call to "normalize Indian hate" surfaced, will return to work for Musk, the billionaire announced.
