本研究首次报道了尼加拉瓜树懒（Bradypus variegatus和Choloepus hoffmanni）体表寄生蜱Amblyomma geayi和Amblyomma varium的发现，填补了该国蜱类宿主关联数据的空白。研究人员通过形态学鉴定确认两种蜱种，将尼加拉瓜Amblyomma属蜱类记录增至15种，并扩展了A. geayi的地理分布北限。
