By Tim McLaughlin BOSTON, Jan 25 (Reuters) - Power prices in the largest U.S. grid rose sharply on Sunday as demand in a region with the world's largest concentration of energy-hungry data centers surpassed forecasts during a deep freeze gripping half the country.

The developers of a new data center in Surprise are bringing their own power, and neighbors of the project say it's a threat.

Baker Hughes Co., one of the world’s biggest oilfield contractors, said it plans to double its data center equipment order target to $3 billion over a three-year period, driven by surging demand for power to run artificial intelligence.
