Two Palestinian boys have been killed by Israeli fire in Gaza while collecting firewood, according to their families.

After being closed for more than a year, the Rafah crossing will likely soon see people move between Gaza and Egypt again. The prospect gives Palestinians hope, but Israel will still impose restrictions.

Israel has said that it will reopen the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt within days for travelers on foot, a move that would allow Palestinians who fled the enclave during the two-year war to return home for the first time.

An Israeli airstrike killed three journalists in Gaza on Wednesday, the territory's civil defense agency said. One of those killed, Abed Shaat, had worked for years as a cameraman for CBS News and other outlets.
