The Michigan football team picked up an interesting transfer portal commitment this week as former Texas State kicker Beckham Sunderland is coming to play for the Wolverines. This pickup is a little bit surprising as Sunderland hasn't received a lot of playing time during his career with the Bobcats,

Sunderland, the nephew of former Michigan kicker Brandon Kornblue, is a former Major League Soccer goalkeeper, playing three seasons with FC Cincinnati from 2020-22. The Wolverines are set at place-kicker with senior Dominic Zvada, the 2024 Big Ten kicker of the year, but Sunderland is expected to handle kickoffs.

Brown is the type of talent that Michigan needs to keep adding in order to secure a consistently productive pass game, even beyond Underwood and his likely three-year tenure in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines already do have one wide receiver committed in the 2026 class in three-star Jaylen Pile.
