High winds and rain showers swept through Northeast Ohio early Sunday, and forecasters say they expected gusts as high as 45 mph to continue through the region.

Much of Northeast Ohio remains under a wind advisory. There also is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms in the eastern part of Ohio.

If a strong storm develops, the main threat would be gusty winds. Right now, Northeast Ohio is under a MARGINAL RISK of severe weather, which is the lowest level.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Northeast Ohio that will expire Sunday morning. Saturday morning was met with severe thunderstorms, winds and a cloud to ground lightening.

Rain is in the forecast for much of the weekend with Friday looking to be the only dry day. The National Weather Service’s forecast is calling for highs in the low 70s on both Friday and Saturday with lows in the 50s each night.
