At 4 p.m., the Weather Service reported Durham and Chapel Hill had seen 2 inches of snow, and several cities had an inch or more: Roxboro, Wendell, Youngsville and Cary. Raleigh-Durham International Airport was showing 1 inch. Snow is expected to end in Raleigh around 9 p.m.

Another round of snow showers and flurries is expected Thursday morning into the afternoon. One to six inches of snow can be expected areawide and up to 0.25 inches of ice, mainly in the southern portions of the viewing area. This could lead to downed trees and power lines.

Up to 6 inches of snow, sleet and freezing rain may be on the way to parts of central and Eastern North Carolina with a winter storm expected to arrive Wednesday. Forecasters have been increasing their estimates of accumulation amounts as the storm gets closer and have expanded the area expected to see wintry precipitation.
