Two American women visiting the Bahamas over the weekend were attacked by a shark, local authorities said, with at least one of the victims sustaining serious injuries.

Two American tourists were bitten by a shark in the Bahamas and were needed to be airlifted. The attack happened on February 7 at around 6:30 in the afternoon while the two women were swimming in Bimini Bay.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force said two American women were bitten by a shark while touring the country's Bimini district.
