Women have been playing catch up in the sport for more than a century. Olympic ski jumping included only men from the first Winter Games in 1924 in France through the 2010 Vancouver Games.

She told The Associated Press in a recent interview that she plans to retire again after the Olympic skiing competition in Cortina d’Ampezzo, where she holds the record of 12 World Cup wins.
