A deadly winter storm that brought massive snowfall across the U.S. has knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people in the South and is crippling travel in the Northeast.

You’ll likely wake up to rain and a few thunderstorms on Sunday as a cold front races east. Rain may be heavy at times, and a mix of freezing rain can’t be ruled out for some residents north of EBR Parish and southwest Mississippi. Moisture should exit the area in the afternoon, and temperatures will plummet throughout the day.

This weekend is going to bring an impactful winter storm across the Tennessee Valley and surrounding areas. Saturday and Sunday are First Alert Weather Days for periods of rain, sleet, snow and freezing rain.

Forecasters are warning that a powerful winter storm could bring hurricane-force winds, heavy snowfall, and dangerous conditions across as many as 12 states.
