Prosecutors cannot pursue a death sentence against Luigi Mangione in the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, a federal judge ruled Friday, delivering a blow to prosecutors.

New York: A man falsely claiming to be an FBI agent showed up to a federal jail in New York City on Wednesday night and told officers he had a court order to release Luigi Mangione, authorities say.

TMZ also reported that prosecutors in the case did not go home empty-handed, as the judge ruled that the evidence discovered in his backpack was admissible in the trial.
