MACON, Ga. — The 13WMAZ Weather Team remains in a Weather Impact Alert through Monday morning as a system continues to bring a wintry mix to certain portions of the area. This could result in ice accumulations throughout the rest of Sunday morning, with a potential for refreezing as we head into Monday morning.
However, the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center said in its Wednesday discussion, “This trend really has little to no impact on the fact that a widespread and significant winter storm is going to occur … but it does play a big factor in exactly where the rain, ice and snow lines set up.”
Over the weekend, local and state crews responded to 1,243 calls for service related to winter weather, including 248 stranded motorists, 182 non-injury crashes, and 26 injury crashes, with one fatal crash that was not weather-related.

The localized instability and wind shear from increasing wind speeds with height likely caused the steam devil to grow tall.
