2025年12月16日，微软在Tech Community博客上正式宣布 Windows Server 2025引入原生NVMe支持，并将其描述为“存储创新的飞跃”和“新时代的存储性能”，甚至使用了“革命性”一词来形容这一变化。

早在 2024 年 4 月，微软发布了 Windows Server 2025 的路线图，其中首次披露了操作系统层级对 NVMe 的原生支持，并详细说明了与 Windows Server 2022 相比预期的性能提升。当时微软表示，得益于这一新优化功能，IOPS 性能可提升高达 70%。

早在2024年4月，微软就曾预告该功能将带来约70%的IOPS提升， 但根据最新的官方数据，经过持续的底层优化，最终落地的性能增幅达到了惊人的80%。 Windows不再默认将所有存储设备视为传统的SCSI设备，而是采用了流线型、无锁化的I/O路径，彻底释放了 NVMe 固态硬盘的硬件潜力。
