When he signed Paul George, re-signed Tyrese Maxey and extended Joel Embiid last offseason, Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey definitely didn't anticipate the team being 20-30 and 11th in the Eastern Conference after the NBA trade deadline.

Morey wanted the Sixers, who have struggled to a 20-30 record entering Friday’s game in Detroit beneath an avalanche of injuries, to get younger. He aimed for more dynamism, on the court and in his flexibility to wheel and deal down the road.

The Sixers had Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey at their disposal, but that didn't slow a Pistons team that took a 78-49 lead into the locker room at halftime and never looked back.

The Pistons jumped out to a 27-11 lead after a Beasley runner, Harris turnaround jumper and Marcus Sasser three-pointer. Even without Cunningham, Detroit played low-turnover, highly effective offense.

It did not matter that the Sixers had all three of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Paul George available, or that Quentin Grimes suited up in a Sixers uniform for the first tine. It did not matter that the Pistons were playing without All-Star offensive engine Cade Cunningham.
