New Xbox revenue figures are in and they are very bad, especially in the hardware department. Can Microsoft afford to invest it ieven more?
Xbox has been having a hard time selling consoles lately, and it didn't get any better over the 2025 holiday quarter. The company has just reported hardware sales were down 32% year-over-year, after quarter upon quarter upon quarter of hardware declines.
Xbox's operating profit was impacted by an impairment charge, and it could be related to recent game cancellations, but Microsoft CFO doesn't elaborate.
We mentioned three games in the headline though, and that's because in addition to Project Cars 3, WWE 2K24 and HUMANITY are shutting their servers in March. Again, both games will remain playable after they shut their servers on March 31st, with HUMANITY specifically being affected in the ability to upload and download user-created stages.
