A monument has been erected to honor about 450 Black people buried in unmarked graves at the Taylor City Cemetery.
Taylor, Texas, has unveiled a monument honoring Black residents whose graves remained unmarked for more than a century.
Some of those relatives are buried in unmarked graves. A new monument honoring those buried in that part of the cemetery has just been dedicated by the Taylor Conservation and Heritage Society.
Several Houston families are still waiting for headstones they paid for over a year ago, and a company representative is citing "pirates and overseas wars" as the cause of delays.
