The classic Google Assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices or available for download in app stores.

Google's Gemini assistant will officially replace the company's classic Google Assistant on most phones later this year. Google announced the change in a blog post Friday, and revealed that the change will also encompass devices like tablets, headphones and watches that use the Google Assistant.

Google is retiring its classic Assistant, replacing it with Gemini as the default app on Android devices. The transition includes upgrades for tablets, cars, and other connected devices. Google Assistant will remain for Android 9 or earlier devices with less than 2GB RAM.
