Around 10,000 endangered tortoises were swept away by a cyclone in Madagascar. They were the same species of turtle that a Knoxville zoologist rescued in 2018.

Known for its unique vocalizations, this wild dog that was once thought extinct, was rediscovered in 2020, and has a population of around 200 in 2025.
