For most out-of-state and international freshmen starting next fall at the Urbana-Champaign or Chicago campuses, tuition will also rise between 2.2% and 2.5%.

Base tuition for in-state undergrads will remain $12,712 a year at Urbana-Champaign campus; $11,178 a year in Chicago; and $321.50 per credit hour in Springfield.

Enrollment at Urbana-Champaign has increased 26% during his tenure, according to university officials. The school also launched the Illinois Commitment program under his leadership in 2018.
