Dozens of beaches across several states are closed or have health advisories in place due to elevated bacteria levels.

There are 20 beaches closed in Massachusetts on Sunday, July 6. Beaches were closed across 18 communities, many due to high bacteria levels, according to the state’s Department of Public Health (DPH).

Here is the current closure and advisory list as of Wednesday July 2: Country Club (5000 W. Shore Drive), Oakland County - CLOSED since July 1 due to high bacteria levels from storm water runoff. Devoe Beach, Cheboygan County - contamination advisory since July 1 due to high bacteria levels from an unknown source.
