An intoxicated man wielding a metal tool is accused of attacking and damaging the Stone of Twelve Angles in Peru, a famed Inca construction, cultural officials said.

The stone, which sustained damage in six spots, had been carved to fit perfectly in a palace wall hundreds of years ago

The emblematic Twelve-Angled Stone, located on Hatunrumiyoc Passage, just one block from <a href=" Plaza Mayor (Main Square), suffered a <a href=" attack in the early hours of Tuesday, after being struck with a metal object by an individual identified as Gabriel Mariano Roysi Malanio.

On Tuesday, a Peruvian who had one glass too many caused damage to the famous 12-sided stone in Cuzco with a hammer. The 30-year-old Peruvian went on such a violent rampage that the piece of Inca heritage suffered irreparable damage.

An allegedly intoxicated man vandalized a 500-year-old archaeological artifact known as the 12-Angle Stone in Peru, authorities said Tuesday. Its perfect 12-angled border is described as symbolic of the advanced stonework of the Inca civilization.
