While the alleged victim was not identified by name in court documents, Tempe Police officials have identified him as 29-year-old Steven Bevan, in a statement that was issued on July 2.

Bevan was about 5 feet from Jackson’s vehicle when he was shot, police said. Bevan was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 12:36 p.m.

While he claims self-defense, a Valley attorney says his defense could be challenging to hold up in court. According to court documents, 29-year-old Steven Bevan began a confrontation on the road.
