Steve Cropper, the Booker T. and the M.G.'s guitarist and co-writer of "Green Onions" and "(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay," has died at 84 in Nashville.

Steve Cropper, who got his start at Stax Records in Memphis, would ultimately help define the sound of soul music.
