Many years later, when Beowulf has succeeded Hrothgar as king, his land is threatened by a dragon. Now Beowulf must vanquish one last monster. And this time, it’s personal.

Beowulf returns to Heorot where he is hailed by Hrothgar who gives him land and many other honors. Finally, an aged Beowulf, who has become king of the Geats, confronts a third enemy—a dragon.

Beowulf pursues her to her underwater lair and kills her. Both Hrothgar and Beowulf’s uncle, Hygelac, king of the Geats, reward him handsomely.
