HARTFORD, Tenn. (AP) — Heavy rain, flooding and a rock slide have again closed a section of the major cross-country highway Interstate 40 along its narrow corridor through the Great Smoky Mountains.

Nicholas County Emergency Operations Center confirmed a rock slide along Route 39 near Beech Glen early Sunday morning. The slide was reported at 3 a.m. Sunday and westbound lanes were closed.
