Mosquitoes have been discovered in Iceland in a first for the island nation, which has long been one of the world's mosquito-free places, a researcher told AFP Monday.
For the first time in history, mosquitoes have been found in Iceland, a country long believed to be completely free of the insects.
Iceland until now, along with Antarctica, had been one of the few places on Earth without mosquitoes, thanks to its cold climate and lack of stagnant water where the insects typically breed.
