Like clockwork, Apple has introduced a new M-series chip on updated versions of the iPad Pro, MacBook Pro and for the first time, Apple Vision Pro. The new M5 chip shares plenty of similarities with the M4 chip Apple introduced in 2024, but the biggest seems to be a focus on improving graphics and AI performance.

Apple announces its new M5 processor with up to 10 CPU cores, 10 GPU cores, a 30% performance jump in graphics, 30% more memory bandwidth, and more.

At the heart of the new phones is a faster A19 Pro chip which offers a faster six-core CPU with two performance and four efficiency cores, a 16-core Neural Engine, and a new 6-core GPU with neural cccelerators in each core for the first time, improving the computing power for AI workflows.
