Two beaches that are normally overflowing with people and boats during the 4th of July weekend remained closed Saturday after a barge full of fireworks sank at Lake Tahoe.

A major Lake Tahoe fireworks show was cancelled after a barge carrying fireworks for the Incline Village show was damaged in a storm and began sinking. The incident also closed several beaches.

Two popular Lake Tahoe beaches were closed Friday following a fireworks barge accident. According to a news release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Ski Beach and Incline Beach were closed Friday “until further notice.”
