“We think that AI represents a rare, once-a-decade opportunity to rethink what a browser can be about,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said during a livestream announcing Atlas.

The browser, called Atlas, appears designed to challenge Google Chrome and potentially supplant the most profitable segment of Google's parent company, Alphabet.

Unlike Chrome or Safari, which can only show your browsing history in that History tab, Atlas can remember the context of your work when you enable its memory feature.
