Doug Martin, a former All-Pro running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has died in police custody, the Oakland, California, Police Department confirmed. He was 36. Police announced Saturday in a news release on Facebook that an in-custody death occurred just after 4:15 a.m.
Running back Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) and wide receiver Chris Godwin (fibula) both missed the contest, while fellow wideout Mike Evans (clavicle) exited early after recording no catches on four targets. Quarterback Baker Mayfield has led the shorthanded squad to victory multiple times this season, but he couldn’t get it done against Detroit.
