We are quickly approaching the final stretch of the 2025 college football regular season, which means every game from here on out is a pivotal one for every tea
In the first round of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, Penn State hosted SMU in a game between two teams that expected to be back in the mix even after the Nittany Lions won comfortably. Less than a year later, and all both have done this season is contributed to the ruination of the Week 10 college football slate.
Only two of the current half-dozen unbeatens could meet prior to the finalized 12-team playoff bracket -- Ohio State and Indiana in the Big Ten Championship Game if both elites keep it up. Here's our best guess at handicapping what's left on the schedule for each team with perfect records and where that first loss may come next month:
The Texas Longhorns have managed to keep their College Football Playoff ambitions within reach following their 45-38 overtime victory against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday. This win comes after their 16-13 overtime win against the Kentucky Wildcats in week 8.
Texas A&M is 8-0 for the first time since 1992 and won in Baton Rouge for the first time since 1994 to stay at No. 1 among state's FBS teams.
