FSH stimulates the ovaries to grow an ovarian follicle and causing the follicle cells to secrete estrogen. What does LH do? LH causes ovulation and follicle cells of the corpus luteum to secrete progesterone. So FSH controls the release of estrogen and LH controls the release of progesterone. Negative feedback loops:
