There will be all these talks about "xFormers is coming for AMD soon", "Shark will have training soon", "AMD will be equal to Nvidia soon".

Yep, AMD and Nvidia engineers are now in an arm's race to have the best AI performance. Amd's stable diffusion performance now with directml and ONNX for example is at the same level of performance of Automatic1111 Nvidia when the 4090 doesn't have the Tensor specific optimizations. 20.76 it/s for 7900xtx on Shark, and 21.04 it/s for A1111.

AMD for ai is still not a thing. They are not there yet. Also, do not fall for the AMD cult that is formed within the reddit. Lots of people deceived by AMDs promises. Rocm has being developed for over 6 years. Amd products still need special attention to make things work. This means that only a subset of ai things will work.

They are not doing this for FSR. It's also likely why Microsoft has invested heavily in AMD and OpenAI.

2019年1月5日 · Common software for which are open source should be compatible with AMD cards - introducing their own software after software becomes industry standard doesn’t provide sufficient support for AMD to be viable. This is particularly true when the less common usage AMD means that there’s less community support for isssues associated with AI on AMD.
