🌿Azolla is a common native aquatic fern also known as Mosquito Fern or Small Duckweed Fern - but it is a different plant to ‘duckweed’. While it is nutrient rich and safe for birds to eat we don’t advocate humans consume it. Large, long term coverage like this blocks light and is not good for the overall health of our pond. While it can resolve on its own, this bloom has stuck around for a while so we’re in the process of removing it to dry it out and use as fertiliser. ⁉️ DYK There is a theory
