The sixth locomotive in CSX’s new heritage series is here! Locomotive 1850, designed and painted at the CSX Locomotive Shop in Waycross, Georgia, honors the Louisville & Nashville Railroad. Originally chartered in 1850, the L&N grew into a vital transportation link between the Gulf Coast and the nation’s heartland. It was eventually absorbed by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad, which subsequently became part of the Chessie System and, ultimately, today’s CSX. | CSX

Another locomotive is joining the CSX heritage lineup! Our tenth design commemorates the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, chartered in 1836. The RF&P merged with Washington Southern in 1920 to form the Richmond-Washington Company which later became part of Conrail, and ultimately CSX. CSX 1836 will carry the RF&P colors across our network, reinforcing our #ONECSX team’s pride in the almost 200-year history of our railroad. | CSX

The CSX fleet of heritage locomotives is continuing to grow with the introduction of CSX 1871 painted in a custom design honoring the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (ACL). First appearing in 1871, the ACL was officially incorporated in 1900 and extended from Georgia to Richmond, Virginia, and later into Florida.
