The low weather system off the Queensland Coast has intensified more slowly than initially expected but is moving quicker towards landfall. The Bureau of Meteorology expects to see tropical cyclone strength and be named Kirrily Wednesday night. The system is expected to cross between Cardwell and Bowen on Thursday evening and to develop into a category 2 system. Severe weather impacts such as flooding are expected to begin Wednesday evening, particularly in the Whitsunday Islands. 7NEWS at 6pm.
