A man who told police he used his backdated benefits to ‘treat himself’ to drugs has been jailed for more than three years. Neighbourhood police were on patrol in Cambridge when they spotted Neil Brown leaving a suspected drug user’s property. The 21-year-old told officers he had just smoked cannabis and was returning to work, but when informed he would be detained for a search, he attempted to run off.
