Japan’s L0 Series maglev train holds the world record for the fastest manned train, reaching an incredible 603 km/h (375 mph) during a test run on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line. Powered by superconducting magnetic levitation, the train glides above the tracks without touching them, dramatically reducing friction and allowing for extreme speeds. While its record-breaking run showcased the future of high-speed rail, the train is expected to operate at a cruising speed of around 500 km/h (311 mph)
