ME262 German Jet Fighter. The Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/R1 (W.-Nr. 500071) now displayed at the Deutsches Museum in Munich has a remarkable story behind it. Built in late 1944 at the dispersed facilities in St. Georgen, Austria, and Leonberg near Stuttgart, it flew with 9. Staffel of Jagdgeschwader 7 and was powered by a pair of Junkers Jumo 004 B-1 jet engines. On 25 April 1945, its pilot, Hans Guido Mutke, broke away from the collapsing Reich and put the aircraft down at Dübendorf Air Base in
